Smart Little House: From Cellphone to Lightbulb — Sustainability and Automation in Basic Education
Keywords:
Sustainability, Home Automation, Computational ThinkingAbstract
This work presents the development of a sustainable and smart little house, carried out with students from the Final Years of Elementary School at Escola Estadual Francisco Derosa, during Mathematics, Science, and Technology classes. The prototype was built using eco-friendly bricks made from a mixture of papier-mâché and soil and included a simple home automation system that allowed lights to be controlled via Wi-Fi using mobile devices. The initiative aims to foster environmental awareness, logical reasoning, and computational thinking through an interdisciplinary approach that connects the knowledge outlined in the BNCC with practices from the school’s digital culture. Furthermore, the project integrates home automation concepts into the basic education curriculum, promoting hands-on learning in electronics, programming, and conscious energy consumption. The proposal encourages critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork, contributing to the formation of students prepared for the challenges of the 21st century.
